“Io e Lynx siamo migliori amici sin dall’infanzia (ride, ndr).

— English Version —

The touchdown twins are united again, thanks to Coach Art Briles that wanted them to join the Guelfi Firenze for the upcoming season of the Italian First Division. Silas Nacita, after having dominated for 3 years in the German Football League, will reunite with – former teammate at the college level – Lynx Hawthorne. Together they will lead the 2019 Estra Guelfi Firenze offense.

These the first official words of the former Baylor Bears Runningback, new entry of the Guelfi roster:

Tell us about your game and skills you developed during the years spent in Germany, what is going to impress Coach Art Briles more?

“Honestly, there is not necessarily anything new. But Coach Briles has not seen what I can really do and that something I am really excited about. In college I didn’t have the chance to play as much before my career was cut short, and so Coach Briles only saw I joked with him – only 5% of what I can do and he’s in for a 95% more this season. I am really excited to see what the Italian First Division is really about”.

What does it mean for you as a player to play again under Coach Art Briles?

For me it’s like closing a chapter of my life that never was finished. I have always felt that my college career never really got to be completed. Being able to play for Coach Briles again will let me fill the hole that the end of my college career left open”.

Tell us about your relationship with Lynx Hawthorne:

“Lynx and I are best friends since we were kids (laughing). To be honest Lynx and I were super close before this experience, he’s always been a super great guy. Definitely one of the guys I was closest to when I was at Baylor just because of his faith, his personality. He’s a type a guy I would want to be friend with. It’s just we were in different circles in college but I am really excited that he’s here. I know we are going to become really good friends just from spending a lot of time together, I am really thankful for the fact that he’s also married and we kind of can help each other navigate marriage together”.

You had the chance to meet players and staff during last fall, how would you describe the first days here at the Guelfi Sport Center?

“My first reaction to the guys here was they are really friendly and welcoming. Warm and nice and they invite you in. I am really looking forward and excited to actually meet and get to know them. So far I only had a limited amount of time to know them”.

Do you have a special message for our fans?
